2008 - 2009 Illinois whitetail deer hunting season statistics

The 2008-09 Illinois whitetail deer hunting seasons concluded with hunters taking a preliminary total of 188,425 deer.

Illinois hunters took a preliminary total of 105,595 deer during the 2008 Illinois Firearm Deer Season (Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 4-7), and 4,310 deer during the 2008 Muzzleloader-only Deer Season (Dec. 12-14).

Archery hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary statewide total of 64,955 deer during the 2008-09 archery deer season which began last Oct. 1 and concluded on Jan. 15.

These figures include deer harvested in the 98 Illinois counties in which firearm hunting is permitted and deer harvested on state sites where special permits are issued.
